From childhood, central to Formerly
Blind have always been Dave Docimo, Jared Tanner, and Jason Tanner. Musicians
checked in and out of the lineup over the years, but its definitive roster
filled to capacity in 2002 with the addition of Jordan Hancock and Ryan Staples.
Breaking new ground musically, as well as spiritually, the band is devoted to
the call God has placed on each of their lives.
With the release of their
new record, Between the Dirt and the Ionosphere, Formerly Blind’s target
audience includes listeners of Christian and secular music alike. Opening tracks
“Meaning of Life” and “Chasing Content” suggest that there is more to this life
than what the world is selling. These tracks, followed by the joyful rocker, “I
Lift my Hands Up” following through to the closing track, “Take it Away,”
combine to form an album meant to inspire one and all to search our hearts and
press into Jesus’ saving grace.
Certainly a group of unfinished works, the members of FB are striving daily to plant seeds of Grace in the soil God cultivates before them. Every soul at every venue is precious, every life worth something, worth time, energy, effort, and Love. It is the hope of Formerly Blind that the next concert, and all that follow, encourage teens and young adults (and anyone else who may be listening) to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
